Our Legacy

Who We Are

The Women's Cultural and Social Society (WCSS) is a pioneering civil society organization and one of the first NGOs in Kuwait to be officially recognized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, under Ministerial Decree No. (5) on February 3, 1963. It was founded by a group of visionary Kuwaiti women committed to empowering women and building a more just and inclusive society.

From its inception, WCSS has centered its mission around women's empowerment, grounded in the belief that empowerment begins with education and awareness. The Society launched Kuwait's earliest literacy programs for women and played a central role in creating a supportive environment for girls and women to develop their skills and contribute to national development.

Today, WCSS continues its leadership through initiatives aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), supporting Kuwait's transformation toward a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future, led by empowered women.

Information

Board Members 2024–2026

The Society is led by a seven-member board elected by the General Assembly for a two-year term. Each member brings a distinct expertise (law, education, finance, engineering, and the humanities) to the governance of WCSS programs and partnerships.
