Women’s political empowerment

The advancement and service of societies requires a comprehensive consideration of all economic, social and political aspects of society. As it is impossible to rise from one aspect and neglect another, hence the association had to play its role, towards empowering women with their full political rights, as a means to enhance their role in society. From this point of view, the Assembly focused on the issue of the political right of women, based on Article 29 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, which did not discriminate between males and females, highlighting the shortcomings of the electoral law, represented in its conflict with the Constitution, and its clear discrimination against women. To achieve this goal, the association held seminars and conferences, published in newspapers, and attempted to support the cause of women, attract popular male and female support for that issue, and contact decision-makers from ministers and members of the National Assembly, as well as trying to persuade candidates to allow women members of the association to attend the electoral headquarters. As listeners or speakers, participating in electoral campaigns, in addition to attempting to register at voter registration offices, go out in marches and sit-ins, submit petitions, and file cases with courts; In order to highlight the issue of women’s political right. The association’s efforts in this field continued, even after obtaining these rights in 2005 by election and candidacy.
