Al Bustan Nursery for the Hearing Impaired

The nursery has been established in 1997 with the aim of developing audio linguistic skills for children with hearing and speech impairments, enabling their parents to acquire skills to deal with them and to participating in the training and education of their children. It is the only nursery that does not use hand language to communicate with deaf children.

 Education Development

Women’s Social and Cultural Society is keen on the importance of quality education because of the impact of education on the progress of societies. A committee of members of the Society has been formed to communicate with the Ministry of Education to work jointly with them and to follow up on education issues in the State of Kuwait. The Society has started its first activities by calling for a teacher’s license to raise the level of teachers. Cooperation has been made with the Ministry of Education. The Society has set up a panel discussion entitled “The Teacher’s License Project… Implementation Mechanism and Results.” The committee is still carrying out its activities and work in this context and organizing seminars and discussion sessions for it.

 

Sustainable Development Committee

With the launch of the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan on September 25, 2015, which includes 17 goals through which it seeks to bring about change in the world and all societies and to ensure progress and development in all social and economic fields.

And with the State of Kuwait’s official adoption of these goals and its formation of the National Steering Committee for Sustainable Development in the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council, Planning and Development, the Women’s Social and Cultural Society has been keen since 2018 to respond to the invitation to join the membership of the committee, adopt the relevant sustainable development goals and ensure the harmonization of the activities and projects of the association For those goals for a better future for Kuwait, where the association participates in all committee meetings,

At its headquarters, it hosts workshops organized by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development for civil society concerned with sustainable development goals. The Society also contributed to the preparation of the first national voluntary report for the State of Kuwait for the year 2019 and contributes to the preparation of the next report.

Establishing a Sustainable Development Committee in the Society to follow up on its projects in accordance with the 17 SDGs, focusing on the objectives that help achieving equality and empowerment of women and girls.

Objectives:
  • Creating a team that follows up on educational issues to promote a culture of educational equality between female and male teachers.
  • Economic empowerment and promotion of its culture at an early age and the selection of proper work.
  • Integrating projects related to the environment and climate with several private and governmental initiatives.
  • Awareness of the role of the objectives related to health and the eradication of poverty and hunger.
